With 'dependant arising', everything is caused into existence. This is a key doctrine in Buddhism. It is accepted that a lack of understanding of or insight into dependant origination leads to sorrows and suffering. This is because, the nature of all phenomena is impermanence and change and therefore to grasp at permanence is to create suffering for oneself. This photograph depicts the action of dependant origination as all the associated features depend on each other to originate and manifest in an ever expanding pattern.
