Cosmic Sunset with Branches

Ajanta | Visual Poet

I see through the lens of quiet truths and light awakenings.

My photographs are visual poetry, a quiet act of witnessing that reveals the sacred, the strange, and the fleeting.

Living on Victoria’s Bass Coast, I return again and again to subjects

that speak in whispers. The sea, the mist, a shaft of sunlight.

A pattern, a texture, a tree’s form. These are my collaborators.

My work spans landscapes, people, animals, and digital transformations, always drawn to the elemental and the in-between places where silence becomes eloquent and time seems to pause.

Though largely self-taught, my work is award winning. What matters most to me, however, is the practice itself: a spacious, contemplative,

and elemental way of seeing. Whether capturing a decaying feather, a rusted hinge, the fragile shimmer of light across water, or the intricate texture of bark, I work slowly, as if in meditation.

Photography is not performance for me, it is presence. A way to honour impermanence. A way to notice what others might walk past.

My work is shared through exhibitions, my website, and social media. Each photograph is a still point, a breath held in time.

Tender. Raw. Unguarded.

This is how I witness. This is how I remember.

This is how I speak without words.

Phillip Island (Millowl) Coastline

Millowl is a landscape of wild cliffs, basalt rocks, and long beaches shaped by the blue green waters of the ocean. My photographs trace the meeting of waves and shoreline, where the force of the sea is softened by the calm presence of coastal foliage. Light shifts constantly here, from storm grey to gold, casting new colours across the rocks and water. These images gather the spirit of Millowl, holding both its raw untamed beauty and its quiet, healing embrace.

Bass Coast Victoria

The Bass Coast is shaped by the meeting of ocean and land, where wild cliffs and open beaches flow into green hills and the strength of the Strzelecki ranges. My photographs move between these landscapes, from blue green waters and rugged headlands to paddocks, wetlands, and forests alive with bird call. Along the shore, foliage softens rock and sand, while inland the rolling hills and trees hold a quieter rhythm. These images gather the spirit of the Bass Coast, a place of contrast and harmony, where wildness and stillness coexist.

Trees

I return to trees again and again, drawn to their strength, movement, and quiet presence. Each carries its own story, carved in bark, branch, and root, shaped by weather and light. My photographs follow the textures of trunks and limbs, where peeling bark reveals ochre, cream, and rust, and the sky filters through a canopy of green. Trees embody resilience and renewal, standing as guardians of land and memory. In their stillness there is motion, in their silence a language of endurance. Through my lens I honour their beauty and spirit, capturing moments that remind us of our connection to the living world.

Sky

The sky is never still. It gathers mood, colour, and movement, shaping the light that touches everything below. My photographs follow its shifting presence, from storm clouds heavy with rain to soft dawns, blazing sunsets, and the quiet wash of twilight. In every moment the sky holds contrast, turbulence and calm, shadow and radiance, mystery and clarity. To look up is to be reminded of change, of vastness, and of our small place within it. With each capture I seek to honour the sky as more than backdrop, capturing it as subject, as mirror, as messenger.

Beaches

Beaches are places of threshold, where land and ocean meet in shifting lines of tide and sand. I am drawn to the way light changes across wide shores, how wind and water leave patterns in the sand, and how the horizon opens to both solitude and reflection. Each beach carries its own mood: wild and windswept, or calm and luminous beneath the rising or setting sun. In this openness there is stillness and movement together, a rhythm that steadies the heart. My photographs gather these fleeting moments, holding the beauty of beaches as spaces of renewal and belonging.

Flora

Flora holds both delicacy and resilience, from the quiet glow of wildflowers to the bold presence of lilies and native blooms. I am drawn to the way light plays on petal and leaf, revealing colours, textures, and forms that might otherwise be overlooked. These living shapes carry stories of survival and renewal, rooted in earth yet opening outward in beauty. My images seek to honour this vitality, capturing plants not just as subjects but as expressions of the landscapes they belong to.

Bark and Leaves

Bark and leaves carry the signatures of trees, each surface a map of growth, age, and endurance. In bark there are patterns of peeling, cracking, and colour layered like time itself, shifting from deep rusts to pale creams. Leaves bring contrast and softness, catching light, moving with wind, and marking the seasons in endless variation. Together they reveal both strength and fragility, detail and design. My photographs look closely at these forms, honouring the quiet beauty that lies in texture, colour, and change.

Dogs

Dogs are family, companions who walk beside us with loyalty, joy, and endless presence. They bring playfulness, devotion, and moments of quiet knowing that steady the heart. My photographs celebrate these qualities, capturing the spirit of dogs as fellow travellers in our lives. Among them, Archie and Charlie, my beloved Beagliers, hold a special place, their irrepressible and gentle natures reminding me daily of love, kinship, and the gift of shared time.

Cosmic

The night sky turns familiar landscapes into something otherworldly. Under stars and shifting constellations, the ocean glows with quiet light and the horizon blurs into mystery. My photographs explore this meeting of earth and cosmos, where beaches, cliffs, and hills are held in the vast embrace of the universe. In these moments the ordinary becomes extraordinary, a reminder of both our smallness and our belonging to something infinite.
