Ajanta: A Maverick Muse on a Mission
Poet. Polymath. Pathfinder.
Ajanta is a writer, poet, photographer and end of life consultant whose work bridges art, compassion and consciousness.
A renaissance spirit wrapped in the wisdom of lifetimes, she is a soulful scribe, award winning photographer and creative visionary devoted to transforming
the raw materials of life into beauty, meaning and legacy.
With the fierce tenderness of a wild horse and the precision of a master craftswoman, Ajanta moves through the world with purpose, turning grief into legacy, clutter into clarity and chaos into story, artistry and sacred order.
She does not just wear many hats, she weaves them from scratch.
She is here to live fully, write fiercely and leave a trail of light for others to follow.
In my words...
I am fortunate to live in a small coastal town on the beautiful Bass Coast, cradled at the base of the rolling green Strzelecki ranges. Waking to light over the water and views that drift toward French Island, my home is only two hundred metres from the foreshore. Once a bustling regional hub with a hotel, school, racecourse and drive-in theatre, my homeground in Grantville later became known as the gateway to Phillip Island, South Gippsland and Wilsons Promontory. Now it is slowly stirring again, growing into a creative and residential community with a pulse of its own. Previously I lived at Smiths Beach on Millowl, Phillip Island, just seven hundred metres from one of Australia’s best and safest surfing beaches, a coastline that shaped me. It lingers in my bones, in the rhythm of my words, in the light I follow through the lens. The spirit of Boon Wurrung land continues to move through all that I create.

This year, I have been on an intense writing sabbatical, surrounded by sea and hill, writing with devotion and purpose. Three manuscripts are now drafted, two focused on end-of-life imperatives and the sacred order of putting one’s affairs in place. Woven through them is my life writing, a tapestry of truth, resilience and revelation, alive with the pulse of story and the persistence of hope. I am also drawn to writing and poetry competitions, having recently completed a five thousand word short story exploring courage and endurance for an international award, and a two thousand word poem for the Nillumbik Arts Prize.

At the heart of my life are my three children, two daughters and a son, and my two grandsons, aged thirteen and two. Their laughter, presence and wonderful, meaningful conversations remind me daily of what truly matters. Family, including my two beloved dogs, anchors me. Creativity gives me flight. Nature restores me. Community nourishes me. Spirituality steadies me. These five threads form the quiet architecture of my days. I move between them with reverence, tending each with care, knowing they are the true inheritance of a life well lived.

An unexpected joy in recent years has been my work as a television and film extra, a small yet fascinating window into the world of story from another angle. It keeps me curious, connected and open to possibility. When I am not writing, I take photographs and share them. My images often become meditations, sometimes transformed into abstract or digitalised art forms where hidden meanings emerge. Photography, poetry and writing flow together as one practice, a way of listening to what wants to be seen. What I create is both visual and spiritual, an ecology of the heart where the inner and outer worlds merge. Each day brings new ways to share what I love. This is the pulse of my existence, the ground of my devotion, and the quiet joy of being present to beauty.
Soon, I will be vlogging my work and sharing it across social media platforms Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
Stay tuned, the stories, the images and the unfolding continue.
